Police: Hartselle man forces way into home, injures 2

Decatur Police arrested a Hartselle man after they said he forced his way into a home and attacked the people inside.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call on Bethel Road around 1 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, 23-year-old Daniel Austin Severinsen fled on foot.

Officers determined Severinsen had come to the home with a female. When he wasn’t allowed inside, he forced his way in and injured the homeowner. He then attacked another male resident and tried to choke him.

The men were able to get him out of the house, at which point he fled.

One of the victims had to be treated for his injuries.

Severinsen was arrested on Thursday and charged with first degree burglary.

At the time of the attack, Severinsen was on probation for an unrelated charge.
