New athletic events at Depot Days Festival | Community Spirit
Hartselle Depot Days will return to the streets of downtown Hartselle September 21. The annual tribute to the railroad industry and its contribution to Hartselle and the North Alabama region offers a day of live music, art, food, children's rides and games. Festival organizers announced thwo new sporting events have been added to the 33rd annual event.
As many as 20,000 visitors stop by the festival each year. In addition to live music by Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band, the event will have a car, truck and motorcycle show, a craft show, and much more. Many of the city's specialty and antique shops located in the historic buildings downtown will be open for business during the festival.
This year, the festival is partnering with the Hartselle Kiwanis to offer a half-marathon in addition to the 5K race. The event will take place at Quail Creek Golf Resert and Convention Center, with race time set for 7 a.m. Also new this year is a gran fondo cycling event, which will begin at Sparkman Civic Center and offers three courses ranging from 30 to 100 miles.
Admission to the Depot Days festival is free. There are several additional activities scheduled for the days leading up to the big event, including a Miss Depot Days pageant and a community worship service.
